Ch 301 Welding Workshop - March 16, 2024

We had a great turnout at the welding workshop led by David Gissen. David is a certified welder, we were very lucky to have his insight and experience as a chapter member. A large group of enthusiastic members showed up at Walt’s hangar to learn more about TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding and a bit of hangar flying to boot. David covered the basics: equipment needed, safety, how to set up the machine and a description of what to look for when welding to produce quality results. Everyone then not only got to watch but try their hand at welding. Most, if not all, got to experience how to actually TIG weld and acquired the basics to be able to do it on their own. Welding is art form and with practice and patience anyone can do it with safety and confidence!

If you would like to see more of these kind of workshops in the future, please write us an email or contact one of our leaders. Our next planned workshop (April 20th 1:00 - 4:00) is an introduction to the basics of aircraft fabric covering with the Stewart Systems waterborne technology. If your project contains fabric and even if it doesn’t you’ll want to be here! There will be plenty of action and hangar flying to go around.

Thanks for your support of Chapter 301!
