Scholarship Program Overview
EAA Chapter 301 awards scholarships to Denver area youth to attend the EAA Air Academy summer program, to take flying lessons, or use to further their aviation education. Since the inception of our scholarship fund we have awarded over $88,000 in scholarships to 34 recipients. Several scholarship recipients have obtained Private or Commercial Pilot Certificates. Others have attended Aviation-related universities or have attended the EAA Air Academy which furthers their aviation knowledge and enthusiasm. Our Chapter's monthly Young Eagle flight program has enabled over 7,000 area youth to experience flight and take the controls of an aircraft. Most of our scholarship recipients have first experienced a Young Eagle flight.
A three member Scholarship Committee selects the scholarship recipients through an application and interview process. The committee actively monitors their progress and at the end of their scholarship activity, invites the recipient to attend a Chapter meeting and recount their experience, whether in flight lessons or EAA Air Academy attendance.
Scholarships are awarded based on merit and need after the committee interviews. Candidates who demonstrate their love of aviation and a willingness to participate in the Young Eagles program will be considered for scholarships.
